Adobe was hacked last month and someone pretty brainy or with lots of time on their hands (in this case Jeremi Gosney), decided to analyse the data that had been compromised. Why is this interesting? It helps us shed some light on a very important issue; password security! In all that data they uncovered the top 20 most used passwords for Adobe account users.
The password 123456 was used by 1.9 million people! That’s right 1.9 million people. Did you know that there are simple programs that have been developed since the 1990’s that “crack” passwords? Yeah there are little programs trawling the internet trying to find these kind of passwords to hack 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
So please people make yourself a secure password. A best practice is to have at least 8 characters, upper-case, lower-case, numbers and a symbol with it. What are you waiting for go change your passwords! Read the full article here.
